Transfer one pedigree between two computers. This is a very useful function in the program as sometimes you need to transfer one pedigree between a computer at home and f.ex. the 2nd one at the office. Sometimes you get a young bird from your friend and you would like to transfer their pedigree on your PC without entering all of their ancestors. Or you sell a young bird to the customer having PLO program and you want to transfer the pedigree. You can do this transfer only with having PLO program installed on both of the computers.
To transfer a pedigree, open Pedigree window from Breding menu and choose on the list. When you see a full pedigree, press Export pedigree button at the bottom of the window. You will see a new window in which you will be able to choose which way of export do you want to do. Select option "Pendrive export", which will allow you to freely export the pedigree of the selected bird..
Pendrive export, will let you transfer a pedigree on a USB pendrive or hard disc and then allows you to send the pedigree as an email attachment. To do this, if you want to save the pedigree on a USB flash drive, connect it to the computer., open Pedigrees window from Breeding menu and choose a bird from the list. When you see the full pedigree, press Export pedigree button and mark Pendrive export in the appearing window. Now transfer the pedigree on USB pendrive or on the hard disc. If you want to send pedigree export by email connect with your mailbox, create a new e-mail message and attach a pedigree export as an attachment. The exporting pedigree will have the name EXPORT + bird band number and mmm. extension. You won't open this file in any program, this is only to transfer a pedigree. When your recipient receives your message containg the pedigree export of your bird, he can to save the attachment anywhere on your hard drive. As long as the pedigree export has been saved on a USB flash drive, just plug in the USB flash drive to second computer. Next open Pedigree window from Breeding menu. Now there is only left to press Import Pedigree button. In the window appearingselect option Pendrive import, indicate the path to the Export.mmm file on the hard drive or USB flash drive, then you should be marked this Export file and the pedigree can be transfered to the program.
Remember that export pedigree files have got the name EXPORT+ bird band number and mmm. extension. You won't open this file in aby program, this is only to transfer a pedigree.
You can see the pedigree of a new bird just after the transfer. If the transferred bird has got Archive status, to see it on the list you need to choose Archive birds, if it has a status Race or Breeding you will see it right after the transfer.
To get to know with the rules of transferring pedigrees, try to export and import a pedigree a few times. Remember that the pedigree transfer does not harm you data, it only add the new bird record to the database. Export and Import function does not remove any data from the system.
